“The delivery of learning and development is OUTSTANDING” (OFSTED December 2008).

Children Live What They Learn

If children live with criticism
They learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility
They learn to fight.
If children live with ridicule
They learn to be shy.
If children live with shame
They learn to feel guilty.
If children live with tolerance
They learn to be patient.
If children live with encouragement
They learn confidence.
If children live with fairness
They learn justice.
If children live with security
They learn to have faith.
If children live with approval
They learn to like themselves.
If children live with acceptance and friendship
They learn to find love in the world.

“Children enjoy freedom and choice and this develops their critical thinking and decision making skills” (OFSTED 2008).

“Sharing and taking turns are skills being developed through collaborative play” (OFSTED 2008).

Each staff member is assigned to a specific age group of children to ensure stability and high quality childcare and education. Your child chooses their own key person who plays a vital role in their life and will demonstrate consistency, sensitivity and be responsive to the child’s needs. It is their job to observe, assess, record and plan.

We want your child’s time at Nutkins to be an enjoyable learning experience, laying down strong foundations and becoming a happy confident and well balanced individual who is able to move onto the next exciting adventure in life.

Every day in our nursery is carefully planned to ensure your child receives the best learning opportunities in a safe, fun and caring environment whilst ensuring we meet individual social, physical and emotional needs of each child.

Nutkins has implemented the government initiative of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to a very high standard. The EYFS is made up of six areas of learning and development;

• Personal, Social and Emotional development
• Communication, Language and Literacy
• Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Knowledge and understanding of the World
• Physical Development
• Creative Development

Each child will have a profile, completed by their key person. Please feel free to look at your child’s profile at any time. It will include dated and annotated observations, photographs and samples of work. Your child’s profile is used to inform planning and as a tool to support learning and areas of interest. “Children’s files hold a wealth of evidence of their development” (OFSTED 2006).
